MISS U

Since 1952, thousands of beautiful women have long wanted to win Miss Universe and wear its most coveted crown. Only four Filipinas- Gloria Diaz, Margarita Moran, Pia Wurtzbach and Catriona Gray- have won the prestigious pageant. And just like the rest of the titleholders from other countries, all of them had and will have to assume great responsibility after winning the crown.

Soon after someone is announced as the Miss Universe of a certain year, the winner will have to be relocated to New York City to meet her new Miss Universe family. Through the Miss Universe Organization, the winner is then provided a platform to meet her objectives for the year and plan how to achieve her goals both on the national and global scale.

The winner will be prepped for a media tour where she will make multiple appearances at media outlets, networks, charitable organizations, sponsor events, etc. All the titleholders from the past up to the present spend their reign representing their platforms, raising awareness and funds for charities. They also have the duty to represent her country’s rich culture and beauty in the best way possible on the international arena.

Though the responsibility a Miss Universe winner holds can be overwhelming, it does come with great perks. As their website explains, Miss Universe will be invited to "casting opportunities, movie premieres, fashion week, sporting events and career opportunities" during her reign in New York. She will get a fancy New York apartment and plenty of free merchandise (clothes and beauty products) provided by sponsors. Not to mention, a year-long salary.
