Back in 1999, "American Pie" was released. The sex comedy film about a group of High School friends attempting to lose their virginity before graduation day became a huge pop culture phenomenon throughout the 2000's. The film spawned a handful more sequels and spin-offs with the last movie of the franchise, "American Reunion", released in 2012.

Fans of the series saw every character progress in each new film. In 2001's "American Pie 2", the characters organize a reunion party after having been graduated from High School in the previous movie. In the spin-off "American Pie Presents: Beta House", the characters are in college, then in 2003"s "American Wedding", the characters arrange one of their friends' wedding ceremony. The most recent installment of the series, 2012's "American Reunion", sees the characters as adults reminiscing about their teenage years. The characters now have kids of their own and long gone are the hormonal teens that they were.

A follow-up to "American Reunion", under the working title "American Pie 5" was announced 6 months after the release of the latest movie. Actress Tara Reid, who plays Vicky in the series said that the new film could possibly be set in Las Vegas. In a recent interview at Cinepop, Reid said she met with the series' directors who allegedly are keen in making another American Pie film.

"I met the directors recently at the Emmy party and I said, ‘Let’s do the fifth movie, the franchise needs another movie, They replied, ‘It will happen! We’re going to make another!'”, said Reid. However, actor Seann William Scott, who plays Stifler, said that 2012's "American Reunion" had not made enough at the box office to warrant another movie. If the producers and writers are able to work out a fresh take in the series, the next American Pie movie could become a hit.
