AMC’s The Walking Dead is yet to kick off its 8th season next month. But producer Scott M. Gimple is already teasing what might happen in Season 9!

As fans eagerly anticipate the “all-out war” that is due to take place in Season 8 (which will premiere on October 22, 2017), Gimple has already revealed early details for the next season and is reportedly in focus onto Season 9 already, which should premiere in October 2018.

Referencing the show’s divisive 7th season, Gimple revealed that the writers of the show were still keen on splitting up the major characters once again in season 9.

“We knew… [the characters] were about as apart as they’ve ever been on the show, and we had all these concentrated episodes [in season seven],” Gimple told ComicBook.com.

“A great deal of the reason we were doing that – the thing that was driving that – was that we knew this season everybody would be more mixed up, and that there would be less of that,” he continued.

“We’re emphasizing [the character team-ups of season eight] because [season nine], especially the first half, is going to be very, very different.”
