The 1983 Bonnie Tyler classic 14,000 times since the news of the solar eclipse went viral. Now watch her perform the song on a cruise ship!
Earlier this morning, an actual solar eclipse occurred over most parts of the mainland U.S.A. Believe it or not, this prompted the sales of Bonnie Tyler’s 1983 classic Total Eclipse of the Heart to skyrocket to 500% more.
Digital downloads for the single rose by 503% for the week ending August 20, with 12,000 downloads in the U.S. It was downloaded 2,000 times in the U.S. the week before. A day just before the actual eclipse, the song shifts to 4,000 downloads – a 50% increase from 2,000 on August 19.
And earlier this year, the song was being downloaded roughly 1,000 times per week. This spike in sales meant that Tyler’s hit now sits at 1.6 million downloads.
