Meghan Trainor Auditioned Her Smash Hit

Meghan Trainor was on Howard Stern’s show and she explained the origins of All About that Bass.

Everybody thought that Meghan Trainor would become just another one-hit wonder after the huge success of her retro bubblegum pop hit All About that Bass waned down. However she managed to release successful follow up singles like Lips are Movin, Dear Future Husband and No. She even won the Grammy award for Best New Artist this year.

Meghan Trainor Auditioned Her Smash Hit

On Tuesday, Meghan went on to The Howard Stern Show and shared with the radio host how she came up with her first smash hit All About that Bass.

She explains that the title came from her co-songwriter Kevin Kadish who told Meghan that he had a title All Bass, No Treble but couldn’t figure out how the title would work on a song. Meghan looked down on her body and noticed that she was “all bass, no treble”.

She then explained how she first played the song to music executive chairman and CEO of Epic Records L.A. Reid. Meghan was invited by Reid to come to her office so he could meet her. Meghan brought with her her ukulele because that’s all she had and that was when she first played her hit song to L.A. Reid.
