Kimberly Anne Scott-Mathers attempted suicide because of Eminem.
17 years ago today, Kimberly Anne Scott-Mathers, wife of Marshall Mathers (aka Eminem) was hospitalized after she slit her wrists following her husband's show in Michigan. Why did she attempt suicide, you ask? That’s because she was married to Eminem, of course.
Not only she was married to the Grammy winner – twice in fact – she is also the mother of their daughter Hailee. Kim and Eminem initially met after she and her twin sister ran away from home at the age of 13. The duo eventually starting living with Eminem and his family. Soon after, Kim began dating the musician.
The couple welcomed Hailie on Christmas Day 1995 when Kim was 20 and Eminem was 23. Though having a child put a strain on their relationship, they tied the knot in 1999, but divorced two years later, in part because of an onstage incident in 2000. Not only did the singer record a song in which he describes killing her and burying the body, but he also assaulted a blow-up doll during one of his concerts, which served as a stand-in for Kim. That’s why she attempted suicide.
