Mick Jagger says newspaper editorial saved him

“That editorial got me out jail. One day it dropped, and the next thing I was out."

Rock superstar Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones revealed that a newspaper article back in 1967 was responsible for getting him out of prison for a minor drug offense.

Jagger told The Times of London last weekend that he had been sentenced to three months in jail in 1967 not because of the severity of his crime, but because the band members were being "scapegoats" by an older generation critical of their lifestyle.

An editorial from the newspaper The Time underscored this point, saying Jagger should be treated "exactly the same as anyone else."  Jagger admits the editorial “got me out jail. One day it dropped, and the next thing I was out."
