Back in 94, Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopez got her revenge.
In recent years, Chris Brown and Rihanna‘s publicly troubled relationship created shocking headlines. But nothing they did was ever as literally explosive as what Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes of TLC did to her boyfriend’s mansion back in June 9, 1994, a time where Twitter and internet memes weren’t still born.
In 1993, Left Eye met and began dating Atlanta Falcons football star Andre Rison. Six months later, Rison was arrested in a parking lot after he allegedly physically abused Left Eye. It was also reported that Rison shot a handgun in the air in an attempt to thwart others from intervening. However, charges made against Rison were dropped. And things got more explosive.
In the night of June 8, 1994 Rison was reportedly out clubbing with some of his friends. He returned home at approximately 5:00 in the morning of June 9 and was greeted by an agitated Left Eye in the driveway of his million-dollar mansion. Left Eye was reportedly angry because Rison bought himself lots of new sneakers, and he didn’t get any pair for Left Eye.
One thing led to another, the whole thing became a messier real life version of Taylor Swift’s Blank Space music video. Left Eye allegedly set fire to a pair of sneakers in the bathtub, then went outside and took a vacuum cleaner pipe to the windshields of two of Rison’s luxury vehicles. Before long, the entire mansion was engulfed in flames.
Rison’s brother even reported seeing the TLC star standing over the whirlpool outside the house, watching the fire spread, like a bad girl. Learn more about the story below.
