Taylor Swift is suing a radio DJ

The singer has also called on a gender studies teacher to be an expert witness on the “groping” case.

David Mueller has been accused of lifting up singer Taylor Swift’s skirt and groping her at a Colorado meet-and-greet in June 2013, an allegation that saw him lose his job as a DJ from 98.5 KYGO. Mueller sued Swift in September that year for what he described as her “false” allegations, a move that was soon met by a counter-suit from Swift for sexual assault and battery in October 2015. In her deposition, Swift described feeling “frantic, distressed and violated” by the alleged incident.

New reports suggest that Swift invited Lorraine Bayard de Volo, a gender studies teacher, to analyze in court whether Mueller’s “behavior is consistent with perpetrators of sexual assault”.

De Volo published a report arguing that Mueller’s actions were caused by the threats to his masculine status. She argued that Mueller was only treated as a fan, rather than as a VIP, during the meet-and-greet with Swift. This prompted the threat to his masculinity and was motivated to commit sexual assault.
