Frank Ocean’s father sues his own son for defamation

Calvin Cooksey sues son Frank Ocean for labeling him a homophobe.

Mr. Calvin Cooksey is suing his own son, singer Frank Ocean, for defamation and $14.5 million in damages. Cooksey was angry that his son wrote a note about him on Tumblr last year. Ocean said “I was six years old when I heard my dad call our transgender waitress a faggot as he dragged me out a neighbourhood diner saying we wouldn’t be served because she was dirty. That was the last afternoon I saw my father and the first time I heard that word”.

He also accused Ocean of publishing “falsehoods” for “the financial success” of his recent album ‘Blonde’, further describing him as “a fraud [who] only cared about making millions of dollars”.

And now TMZ reports that Ocean and his lawyers have now responded to the lawsuit. In a filed response to the complaint, Ocean said that his Tumblr post “speaks for itself”.
