Sometimes you’re proud of your work, and sometimes you cringe at how sloppily you made it. That’s the case for many musicians, some of whom are great songwriters in their own right. Here are five artists who absolutely hate their own hits.
Frank Sinatra hates ‘Strangers in the Night’

As one of Sinatra’s most beloved and best known songs, Strangers in the Night went to number one on the charts and received many awards including multiple Grammy wins. However, none of these made a difference to old blue eyes himself who absolutely detest the song calling it a “piece of sh-t” and the “worst f-cking song he’s ever heard”. Note he didn’t even write the song. Tough luck for the songwriter.
Mandy Moore hates ‘Candy’

Candy was the debut single for Mandy Moore back in 1999. The song launched the 15-year old into fame making her one of the early 2000’s teen idols. Now 32 years old, Moore is “overwhelmingly embarrassed” by Candy and the rest of her early songs calling them “just awful”.
Bob Geldof hates ‘Do They Know it’s Christmas’ and ‘We are the World’

Bob Geldof is known for writing one of the most well-known Christmas songs of all time. Do They Know it’s Christmas was written as a response to the 1983 Ethiopian famine in a collaboration with the biggest artists of the decade. However, Mr. Geldof hates the song for being too cheesy and corny. He said that Do They Know along with his work with We are the World, are “two of the worst songs in history”.
Madonna hates Like a Virgin

Do we really need to know why? Note. Just don’t play the song when Madonna enters your establishment.
Radiohead hates Creep

If you’re going to request Creep when Radiohead plays in front of you, don’t. Thom Yorke will absolutely storm off and don’t come back. That’s how much he hates Creep the song that brought his band to fame. The band doesn’t even understand why it’s so famous. Guitarist Jonny Greenwood hated it even during recording the song, that he tried to sabotage the recording by hitting the guitar extra hard before the chorus, which you know obviously backfired as that crunch sound is now iconic.
