Women’s March around the world

Miley Cyrus, Madonna, Katy Perry. They were just a few of the stars who came out to the streets in force.

The weekend saw an estimated 2.9 million activists take to the streets of cities across the United States as part of the Women’s March with the goal of promoting women's rights. The rallies largely targeted Donald Trump, the recently inaugurated President of the United States, as well as many of his statements and positions that had been deemed anti-women or otherwise reprehensible.

Though the protest was originally intended for Washington DC, it ballooned up and took place across the world, including Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, London and Barcelona, leading to an international day of action against Trump’s administration in the name of women’s rights. Activists believe they will be under threat from the actions of the new President.

Music and entertainment stars were spotted across the large-scale protests, including pop stars Miley Cyrus, Madonna, Katy Perry, Grimes; rock stars Michael Stipe, Pearl Jam, Green Day‘s Billie Joe Armstrong, actor Sir Ian McKellen. You can see some of their social media posts below.
