French duo climbed to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time since they started their career in 1993.

Daft Punk have reached the top of the US singles chart for the first time. Their collaboration with The Weeknd, ‘Starboy’, is now Number One on the Billboard Hot 100. It replaces previous chart-topper ‘Black Beatles’ by Rae Sremmurd.

‘Starboy’ becomes the third US Number One for The Weeknd, who previously reached the top with ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ and ‘The Hills’ in 2015.

Daft Punk have only cracked the US Top 40 once before: with 2013’s ‘Get Lucky’ featuring Pharrell Williams, which peaked at Number 2. Notably, while "Starboy" is Daft Punk's first Hot 100 No. 1 as an artist, the duo previously topped the chart through its songwriting. The pair's 2001 song 'Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger' was sampled in Kanye West's "Stronger," which topped the charts in 2007.
