The Hamilton Mixtape

The mixtape features covers from John Legend, Usher, Chance the Rapper, Sia, and more.

The Hamilton Mixtape is a mixtape album featuring assorted songs from the 2015 Broadway musical ‘Hamilton’ performed by various artists like Nas, Usher, Chance the Rapper, and Sia.

I really wanted the hip-hop community to embrace Hamilton because it’s such a love letter to them,” says Lin-Manuel Miranda about the mixtape based from the biggest and most original hit musical on Broadway in decades. The Tony Award-winning Miranda wrote the book, music, and lyrics, and stars in the hip-hop musical about U.S. Founding Father Alexander Hamilton.

Miranda has recently teamed up with the Roots’ Questlove—who executive-produced the show’s Grammy-winning cast album—for this year’s The Hamilton Mixtape.

Following the Top 5 charting success of the original Broadway cast of “Hamilton” on the Billboard Album 200, its spin-off set, The Hamilton Mixtape, featuring respected hip-hop artists singing the songs from the musical, is aiming to debut at No. 1 on next week’s chart.

Industry forecasters suggest the compilation new album, which was released on Dec. 2 could earn perhaps between 175,000 and 200,000.

The mixtape features hip-hop artists like Wiz Khalifa, Francis and the Lights, Regina Spektor, Ingrid Michaelson, Common, Alicia Keys, Queen Latifah, Kelly Clarkson, Ashanti, Ja Rule, Jimmy Fallon, and many more.
