The U.S. department’s Transportation Security Administration (TSA) ranks higher than NASA, Banksy, and Madonna in the top 100 best Instagram accounts list from Rolling Stone.
In news that will come as something of a surprise to anyone who has crawled through security at JFK airport in New York, according to Rolling Stone, the Instagram account of the TSA is the 4th best Instagram Account in the world, ranking just below Rihanna, NatGeo, and Kim Kardashian.
Instagram is typically popular for beautiful images and celebrity shots. But the TSA has amassed an army of followers for sharing a different side to the usually common holiday snaps.
The TSA is the group of people who make you line up at U.S. airports so they can check your bags. It was formed in the aftermath of the September 11 terrorist attacks, the TSA is tasked with securing and protecting US transportation systems.
According to Rolling Stone, "We ranked the TSA in the top five as we found it fascinating, entertaining and terrifying,"
“It opened our eyes to what they have to deal with on a regular basis - from hatchets and brass knuckles to loaded handguns, live eels and a shocking number of batarangs [a bat-shaped throwing weapon].
"We really enjoy seeing airport life from their perspective.”
