Actor Chandler Riggs is leaving the TV horror series to go to college. This could mean a horrific fate for his character.
After surviving a bullet wound in season 2 and the loss of an eyeball in season 6, The Walking Dead's Carl Grimes, played by 17-year old Chandler Riggs, might get an epic and gruesome send-off.
Earlier this month (November 7), Riggs tweeted that he has been accepted into Auburn College which he would be starting next year.

Well that maybe reason to cause for concern, but an actor going to college doesn't necessarily mean he can’t attend production shoots for the series, even if it just for reduced appearances.
Auburn College is located in Alabama, which is (on a good day) about an hour and a half from The Walking Dead's filming location of Atlanta.
However, Riggs' father recently posted this on Instagram, which is what has got fans really worried.
"Completed 7 years on TWD! #freedom #thewalkingdead" the post reads.
That could mean that Chandler has been released from his contract on the show and is free to pursue his education.
And if that wasn't enough, Chandler’s dad posted the same pic on Facebook with a more-concerning caption as it confirms that the initial seven-season contract is finished. The post has recently been deleted but Movie Pilot was able to grab a screenshot of the post. This is what the caption said.
"7 year contract completed! Grateful to AMC, Cast & Crew, TWD fan base and especially Chandler for always being 100% dedicated. Whether it was getting up at 4AM, working in the freezing cold past 2AM, leaving his friends and carefree kiddom behind, scrambling to make up missed schoolwork, he has done it without complaint and always made me proud & amazed to be his dad!".
A lot of the actors on The Walking Dead are currently in re-negotiations of their contracts, but it is not known whether Chandler Riggs will be re-negotiating his. But the use of the hashtag “Freedom” on Mr. Riggs’ Instagram implies that his son is done with the show.
In terms of the comic books, the character Carl is still alive and there's more than enough source material for another season of the character. So who knows? Do you think Carl will still be alive for more seasons?
