James Corden Will Be Hosting 2017 Grammy Awards

Musicians already love him for driving them around town.

James Corden has been chosen to host next year’s Grammy Awards.

The British host of the American The Late Late Show, will serve as master of ceremonies for the televised music awards show, which takes place at Los Angeles’s Staples Center on February 12, 2017.

I am truly honoured to be hosting the Grammys next year,” said Corden in a press release. “It’s the biggest, most prestigious award show in music, and I feel incredibly lucky to be part of such an incredible night.”

Corden is no stranger to hosting awards shows, having already presented the BRIT Awards on four occasions.

The 2017 Grammy awards will see the introduction of a new rule that allows records released exclusively on streaming music services to be entered for the first time, making Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo and Chance the Rapper’s Coloring Book both eligible.

Although nominations won’t be announced until December 6, there has already been some controversy over next year’s awards.

Frank Ocean recently revealed that he chose not to submit his latest album Blonde for consideration, saying that the awards typically overlook black artists in the album of the year category.

That institution certainly has nostalgic importance,” Ocean told the New York Times last week. “It just doesn’t seem to be representing very well for people who come from where I come from, and hold down what I hold down.

Kanye West previously threatened to boycott the Grammys if Ocean isn’t nominated for any awards.

The album I listen to the most this year is Frank Ocean’s album,” he said. “I’ll tell you this right now: If his album’s not nominated in no categories, I’m not showing up to the Grammys.

Meanwhile, Kanye West has been hospitalized yesterday for “his own health and safety”.
