Zayn Malik new album

The former One Direction artist is looking to collaborate with AR Rahman, who composed music for Slumdog Millionaire.

Producer Malay has hinted at what fans could expect coming up from Zayn Malik.

Malay, who has worked with the likes of John Legend, Frank Ocean and Sam Smith, has launched a new label with BMG. He recently told Billboard that his goal with the imprint is “finding some classic, timeless artists that are impactful and still very musical and anti-gimmick.

Elsewhere in the Billboard interview, Malay talks about working with Zayn on a collaboration with famed Indian composer AR Rahman, who did the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack.

Malay says: “I thought it would be fun to have a platform that was maybe a little less pressure for the artist and then me having the challenge and the fun of creating a new sound. The other part of what I’m doing is representing a little bit more of the culture subliminally with Zayn Malik, who I’ve been working with.

We’re talking about doing a song with him and AR Rahman together and I’m having Zayn sing in Urdu, it’s real similar to Hindi but it’s Pakistani language. It’s a modern-sounding song, but for him to sing in that language is kind of powerful.

Malik, whose father is half Pakistani, has already sang in Urdu on a track once before, namely Flower from his debut album Mind Of Mine.
