To all those dissatisfied teens in the 90’s, you might remember Mellon Collie as one of your favorite “angry albums”.

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, a.k.a. one of the greatest albums of the 90s, if not of all time, was released as a two disc CD with 28-tracks on October 24, 1995. It was The Smashing Pumpkins’ third album and contained their most popular songs Tonight, Tonight, Bullet with Butterfly Wings, and 1979.

With 28 tracks, and a two hour running time, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness was one of the most generous records of the 90s. Smashing Pumpkins took it upon themselves to make a record that only teenagers could love and for many it was the only one they needed.

And 21 years ago today, it was a number one hit! Oh how time passes so fast. If you’d like to listen to those old Smashing Pumpkins songs, you can try to ask our rhythm crew to play them for you. The Friday Gold Rush allows our rhythm crew to play all the greatest hits of the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s.
