Emma Watson Hide Books

The actress and activist left around 100 books on the tube, all containing a special note from the Harry Potter actress.

Earlier this year Emma Watson has set up her own online feminist book club, Our Shared Shelf, which has now nearly 150,000 members.

The club’s latest recommendation is Mom & Me & Mom, a 2013 memoir by renowned author and civil rights activist Maya Angelou.

Sharing a picture of herself with copies of the book on the London Underground this week, Watson wrote: “I’ve been hiding copies of Mom & Me & Mom for @booksontheunderground on the tube today! See if you can find one tomorrow!”

The BBC reports that Watson left 100 books on the London Underground, all containing a special note from the actress.

The giveaway was part of the Books on the Underground program, whereby so-called “book fairies” leave books to be found by passengers. The idea is that when a passenger has finished the book, (s)he leaves it on the underground again to be found and read by someone else.
