Eminem Rap Before Becoming Insanely Famous

It’s difficult to imagine that world famous music artists were just like us mere mortals in their teens, just trying to find their way in life.

But they all have to start somewhere to break onto the music scene and this was no different for the likes of Eminem.

This incredible footage found below gives us insight into the rapper’s big break on a college radio program called The Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Show.

A very fresh-faced Marshall Bruce Mathers AKA Eminem appeared on the show back in August 20th, 1998, only five months before his first hit My Name Is, and six months before his first critically acclaimed album, The Slim Shady LP.

In the short clip, Eminem launches into a freestyle rap verse.

The footage above is from a new documentary called Stretch and Bobbito: Radio That Changed Lives, recalling how it helped launch the careers of Jay-Z, Notorious B.I.G and a whole host of other influential hip hop artists.
