Emojimovie: Express Yourself will hit cinemas in 2017.
Emojimovie: Express Yourself is in the works from the studio behind this year's Angry Birds Movie. It is expected to be released in August 2017, and directed by Tony Leondis the guy who directed Kung Fu Panda and Lilo & Stitch film.
The film will also star comedian James Corden, who will provide the voice for Hi-5, and Broad City's Ilana Glazer as Jailbreak.
Deadpool star TJ Miller will also appear as the voice of the character Gene, an "exuberant emoji who was born without a filter and is bursting with multiple expressions."
The story will take place in Textropolis, a bustling city where all your favorite emojis live, hoping to be selected by the phone’s user. In this world, each emoji has only one facial expression — except for Gene (Miller), who was born without a filter. Determined to become “normal,” he enlists the help of his handy best friend Hi-5 (Corden) and the notorious Jailbreak (Glazer). Together, they embark on an epic “app-venture” to find the code that will fix Gene. But when a greater danger threatens the phone, the fate of all emojis depends on these three unlikely friends who must save their world before it’s deleted forever.
Given that over six billion emojis are texted every day, this is a pretty universal theme which has the potential to tap into a wide global audience.
