News reports have detailed a spate of people dressing up as clowns in public in an attempt to intimidate others. This craze started in the US and people from around the world are trying to imitate the “prank”, which could lead to very dangerous situations if not handled correctly.

If some clever kid goes dressing up as a clown and frightening people in the streets, somebody could attack him if they feel threatened. A real serial killer could even dress up as a clown and legitimately harass a victim, and the person would just think he’s another clever prankster and wouldn’t know better.

Australian police reported that creepy clown sightings in their country will not be tolerated. And I hope it will be the same case here in the Philippines.

Speaking to TIME, the shock-rap duo Insane Clown Posse, the definitive authority on clowning, finally spoke out about the recent clown pranks.

Violent J, one of the rap duo, argues that the current clown spook is distracting Americans from the more dangerous and insidious clowns at large.

There’s a whole army of scary, terrifying and dangerous clowns out there in this country trying to suppress the rights of thousands of people to exercise the most basic part of the Declaration of Independence, which evokes the freedom to “Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” The only difference is these clowns don’t wear greasepaint.

Violent J concludes: "Despite these sensationalized reports about 'killer clowns' wreaking mischief across the nation, there are real clowns out there killing ours and your very rights as an American citizen. Now that’s truly scary, and nothing to clown around about."

Insane Clown Posse might have taken this terrible clown craze in a political perspective, but let’s not forget that our lives are endangered, and take human rights as a consideration. Be safe everyone!
