What We Can Learn From Kim K's Holdup

Sometimes, too much social media is a kiss of death.

As you may have known by now Kim Kardashian was held in gunpoint at her hotel room while she was in Paris. Kanye West's wife and mom of two was gagged, handcuffed and dumped in the bathtub by raiders dressed as police officers. Their haul included two mobile phones and a £3.5million ring recently given to her by West. Mixed reports say that Kanye fired Kim's bodyguards and also say that it was an inside job between the hotel staff and her security. A photographer that has been following Kim nonstop also knew she was alone the night when the robbery happened so he's also in question too.

There are tons of sites talking about what happened because firstly, she's a Kardashian and second, she's THE Kardashian. Their clan is known for capitalizing on being famous and flaunting everything on social media.Speaking of social media, Kim has been known to always post about the ring that was stolen along with her customized Balmain outfits or classy vacays. Kim was said to be shaken up after the whole incident and blames herself for what happened. But whether you're a fan or a die-hard hater, you'd know that no one deserves to experience what happened. But there's definitely a moral to this one.

Posting too much of yourself online poses a risk for theft, kidnapping, and even homicide. It's safe to say Kim broke all the social media don'ts but that much is expected since she lives off being under the microscope all the time. So here are some quick things to remember:

Don't post about your expensive belongings online.
It's always nice to say thank you to your partner or to yourself for that indulgent timepiece or handbag. But remember, this also calls the attention of those who are up to no good, especially when they know where you live. Now to my next point...

Don't post pictures of your house, inside your home or where you're staying if you're on a vacation.
Details like house numbers can be easily traced, posing inside your living room or bedroom can give thieves an idea on where to go and telling the world in real-time that you're on a lavish vacation is a signal to those who've been watching that you're not home at the moment. Some bloggers also practice not disclosing where they're staying and only reveal the details after their vacation.

Don't reveal too much about your kids, especially where they go to school.
There are tons of horror stories on strangers posing as guardians fetching unsuspecting children in school. Some, if not several parents never saw their child again after being told that someone else picked their child early.

Despite what happened, we're glad nothing happened. We're hoping for Kim's fast emotional recovery after this traumatic incident.
