Daft Punk Tour Rumors

It would be the easiest thing in the world to toy with Daft Punk fan emotions. Rumors of the robots going on a world tour next year has emerged.

Speculation first spread last month when Lollapalooza website seemed to suggest that they'd be performing at the festival next year - leading others to argue that they're also likely to headline Glastonbury.

As the final months of 2016 are about to close down, it leaves us exactly 10 years since the last time Daft Punk touched road in 2007. Daft Punk have two live albums called Alive 1997 and Alive 2007 named after their two tours, which seem to happen once a decade - adding to the theory that they'll continue the tradition and tour in 2017.

Their recent feature on The Weeknd's Starboy plus a strange post to Lollapalooza website recently had fans gawking. However, Consequence of Sound and Pitchfork reported that Daft Punk has no plans to tour in 2017.

But now, a website with the url Alive2017.com has popped into existence, but there is much more to the site than meets the eye.

The website holds the hidden numbers '23' '05' '33' '22' - leading to many fan theories about what they might mean. As Genius reports, users on Reddit and tumblr have inspected the page's source code, to find numbers that appear to be coordinates for the locations of Paris, Los Angeles, London, New York, Tokyo, Sao Paulo, Ibiza and Índio.

It also contains the line “WAKE DATE 2016-10-27”, which is exactly one month after the site was created and suggests that there will either be an announcement or new music on 27 October.

That among other goodies have superfans super excited for a possible tour announcement on Oct. 27, but right now, the top post on Reddit appears to debunk the whole thing.

I've been doing web hosting for around 20 years,” a user says. “Based on 5 minutes of poking at their domain setup and IP space, this website has nothing to do with the infrastructure hosting daftpunk.com and looks very amateur, while daftpunk.com looks very professional.

Or maybe it's to throw off the scent?
