Musicians are traditionally liberal when it comes to political views. Most American musicians have enjoyed a long history of slamming right wing war-mongers in the political class.

The very real possibility of President Trump has got many in the US music world, from punk to pop, to fear for the worst. Trump is, after all, is the silliest, most inconsistent person to have ever strut in the political arena. Trump is known to be very ignorant, bigoted especially on his views on Mexicans, migrants living in the US, women, and foreign nations. Most musicians disagree with his views, so here is a list of musicians who have been the most vocal for their distaste of Trump.

Madonna

Madge showed her bitterness for Trump by getting a piñata in his likeness for her 11-year-old son's birthday. She also defended her friend Rosie O'Donnell after Trump doubled down on his ongoing feud with her. "Mess with my girl Rosie," she tweeted, "and you're messing with me!!! Cruelty never made anyone a winner."

Shakira

Shakira lives in the minority in the eyes of Trump. She is a Colombian getting fame and making music in America. When Trump made a hateful speech towards Latinos and Latinas, Shakira took to Twitter “No one living in this century should stand behind so much ignorance,” she stated.

Michael Stipe, Mike Mills and R.E.M.

"Go fuck yourselves, you sad, attention-grabbing, power-hungry little men,” Michael Stipe lead singer and songwriter of REM, said in a statement tweeted by the band’s bassist Mike Mills after their hit It's The End Of The World… was used at a Donald Trump rally. “Do not use our music or my voice for your moronic charade of a campaign.” Mills added “the Orange Clown will do anything for attention. I hate giving it to him."

Cher

In August, Cher spoke at an event in support of Hillary Clinton where she voiced concerns for minorities should Trump come to power. "He doesn't mean we want to 'Make America Great Again,'" she said. "He means: 'We want to make America straight and white'. He just says the weirdest shit... I just think he's a fucking idiot."

John Legend

Singer-songwriter John Legend called Trump "racist" on Twitter after Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr. tweeted about the clashes between Trump supporters and protesters in Chicago.

"Ha 5 students when asked why they were protesting couldn't even answer. The participation medal/micro aggression generation is pretty sad!," Trump Jr. tweeted.

John Legend then responded".@DonaldJTrumpJr I think they were protesting your racist father. This isn't complicated,"
