#SaveNelly Campaign

Nelly fans are streaming Hot In Herre on loop to help him pay his tax bill.

The rapper reportedly owes the Internal Revenue Services (IRS) more than $2.4 million in unpaid taxes. Fans of the rapper mobilised following the news, launching an online campaign - entitled #SaveNelly - that aimed to raise money to pay for Nelly's tax bill by repeatedly streaming his 2002 hit. Two hosts of prominent US late night talk shows, Stephen Colbert and James Corden, added their support to the campaign, which quickly went viral.

The Late Late Show of James Corden also got in on the act by having a special button fitted on his desk that plays ‘Hot In Herre’ every time pushes it.

Nelly fans have been trying to get the hashtag #HotInHerreStreamingParty trending on Twitter too. "pro tip: turn your phone to mute and put on "hot in herre" while you sleep tonight. 7 hours sleep = 110 plays," one fan tweeted.

The #SaveNelly movement sprung into action with Billboard reporting that domestic streams of Hot In Herre had soared by 90%, with 714,000 streams accumulated in total for the week ending September 13.

If you’d like to help Nelly pay his taxes, stream Hot in Herre all day.
