London Town a Coming-of-Age Story with The Clash

The film depicts a teenager who momentously crosses paths with the legendary Clash frontman Joe Strummer.

The new trailer for London Town, which stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Joe Strummer, has been released.

The upcoming film tells the story of a Clash-obsessed teenager who crosses paths with Joe Strummer by happenstance in 1979 and finds his life changing as a result. It stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Match Point) as the punk singer, who in the film asked the teenage boy, Shay, played by Daniel Huttlestone (Into the Woods) "So you fancy yourself a punk, do you?"

Directed by Derrick Borte (The Joneses, H8RZ), the filmmaker has explained about his motivation behind making the film in an accompanying press release.

"This coming of age story is just a glimpse into a brief moment in the life of one young boy almost 40 years ago, set against the rise of punk and a backdrop of social political, and racial unrest that is incredibly similar and relevant to what we see happening in the world today," Borte writes. "I made London Town to illuminate the power that music has to change your life."
