Trent Reznor + Atticus Ross Score 'Before the Flood' Doc

Along with collaborations with Atticus Ross, Gustavo Santaolalla, and Mogwai, Reznor and his team will hopefully mix up an Oscar winning score for Leonardo DiCaprio’s upcoming environmental documentary.

Trent Reznor, his frequent film score collaborator Atticus Ross, another Oscar winning film composer Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, Babel) and post-rock band Mogwai have teamed up to score the upcoming documentary Before the Flood. The film — an environmental call-to-action helmed by Leonardo DiCaprio and Fisher Stevens — will debut at the Toronto International Film Festival.

For the first time, frequent collaborators Reznor and Ross were the film's music supervisors. The pair had previously scored the David Fincher movies The Social Network, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and Gone Girl. An album version of the score will be available on an unspecified date in October, the same month when Before the Flood hits select theaters in New York City and Los Angeles (October 21st) and premieres globally on the National Geographic in 171 countries and 45 languages (October 30th).

"The incredible music composed for Before the Flood was one of the most unique collaborations I can think of in scoring a film," Stevens, the producer for the doc, who also previously worked on The Cove and Racing Extinction, said in a statement. "Reznor, Ross, Santaolalla and Mogwai become one voice in capturing the emotion and feeling of Leonardo DiCaprio's journey to understanding where we stand in terms of climate change, how far gone we are, what can we do about solving this issue and why people are still resistant to understanding how important it is."
