lady gaga new song

Lady Gaga premiered a disappointingly weak come-back with messy single Perfect Illusion.

The 30-year old pop superstar has posted her new single Perfect Illusion online, her first pop single since 2015’s Grammy-nominated pop ballad Til It Happens to You. Gaga’s last solo album was Artpop in 2013.

The singer unveiled the new track at 12 noon September 9 (in the Philippines) and debuted it before her appearance on BBC Radio 1’s show with Nick Grimshaw.

Perfect Illusion was made with Mark Ronson, Tame Impala singer Kevin Parker and Grimes/Justin Bieber producer BloodPop. You can listen to the track below.

Fans of the singer and music critics felt that Gaga’s new single was “underwhelming”. The first thing you notice about Perfect Illusion, the disco-rock lead single from her upcoming album, is that there’s zero pitch correction on her vocal, which Gaga obviously took cues from Sia. it’s a bold move. Gaga wants you to hear the blues notes, the cracks in her voice. The song aspires to be a heartbreak and triumph of a classic disco record. But Gaga lacks the grace of a true disco diva. Donna Summer, Diana Ross, Gloria Gaynor – their voices were smooth, not jagged. Nor is there any sense of camp, or a knowing wink, to defuse the tension – no, Gaga’s deathly serious in the song.

With a Grammy-winning collaboration with legendary crooner Tony Bennett, and an amazing live vocal performance of The Sound of Music songs during the 2015 Oscars, Lady Gaga has spent the last three years proving she can sing. But in her quest to overwhelm us with her vocal talent, she’s under-delivered with her songwriting, added with an aesthetics that didn’t work anymore.

Although the first single was weak, we still have hopes that Gaga’s upcoming album will be stunning. Especially when you hear which musicians worked on it. Nile Rodgers, Paul McCartney, Elton John, and her old producer RedOne can be found in the credits of the forthcoming album coming soon.
