Liam Gallagher wants an Oasis reunion “for the fans”

Liam Gallagher on Oasis reunion

Despite a long falling out with his brother, Oasis lead guitarist/songwriter Noel Gallagher, Liam said that he wants to get the band together just “for the fans”.

Oasis was the 90’s Beatles, but the band, consisting of brothers Noel Gallagher (principal songwriter/lead guitarist) and Liam Gallagher (co-songwriter/lead singer) and three other guys people don’t really care about, broke up in 2009. The band’s dissolution was caused by sibling rivalry between Liam and Noel who have always squabbled with each other during their career.

After their break-up, Noel created the critically acclaimed band Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and Liam created the so-so Beady Eye.

The years since then, the two brothers exchanged some bitter (but often times hilarious) comments at each other over various forms of media. We even have an article written about their recent series of jabs at each other. Check that out here.

Liam’s Beady Eye disbanded in 2014, and since then Noel has announced collaboration plans with U2 and Damon Albarn of Gorillaz. Despite mentioning that he wouldn’t ever gonna work with Noel again, Liam recently told Q magazine, that he wants to do an Oasis reunion “for the fans”.

Liam has criticized his brother’s band, saying that some of Noel’s songs sound homoerotic, but would’ve sounded better if Liam sang it. He has also compared his brother to a kid who tries to put make-up on to look like a grown-up, and has called him and guitarist Johnny Marr of The Smiths as guys who are “playing at being frontmen”. He said that without a doubt, these musicians wanted to be frontmen of their bands.

"Every fucking soundcheck [Noel] would go and stand in the middle and sing. The geezer's got small man syndrome. He never had the nerve back in the day so he joined my band [Oasis] and slowly wormed his way to the front, got his balls together."

Liam has even said on record before, that he wouldn’t ever gonna be in a band with Noel again. He said "Do you think I want to be in a band with [Noel]? He says ‘'Liam has to change’'. Get to fuck... If the guy doesn't want me back in our band then I don't want to either. I don't want to be in a band with someone who doesn't want me."

However, in the Q magazine interview recently, Liam said "I believe Oasis will sail again and it'll be glorious. If it's really about the fans, Noel, let's do it - because they want it. One year. Tour for a year. We'd smash it. My bags are still packed from my last tour, so I'm ready."

So come on Noel! If Liam wants to, then it’s the only chance! #OasisReunion
