People Magazine's annual World's Most Beautiful issue is a highly-anticipated launch and we're surprised Gwyneth Paltrow ranked number 1 against Kanye. Maybe this would be the first time when Yeezus wouldn't complain about being first place. Other celebrities that made the top list were Kristen Stewart (No. 2),John Mayer (No. 4), Madonna (No. 7), Justin Bieber (No. 8), Anne Hathaway (No. 9), Lindsay Lohan (No. 16), and Chris Brown (No. 20).
Yesterday, Paltrow sat down with Stephen Sackur, host of BBC News' Hard Talk at Cannes Lion. Paltrow shares that she was confused by the title. "First of all, I was like, 'I'm the most hated celebrity? More than, like, Chris Brown?'" she asked. "What did I do?" Could it be because of her rumored attitude towards co-workers or because of the broken-hearted legion of Chris Martin fans (Both separated April last year)? "I see where you are coming from, but maybe you just make people feel bad sometimes," Sackur says. She confides, "All I can do is be my authentic self, and if you know me, then you know who I am, and that I have fun and eat and am so appreciative for my life. But I think there are things about me that make people draw conclusions.For example, there is the perception that I grew up very wealthy and that I was given, you know ... that I was sort of raised with a silver spoon in my mouth, which inspires a lot of resentment."
Paltrow's lavish preferences (or so it seems) and peculiar diet have raised a lot of eyebrows over the years. For those of you who didn't know, Gwyneth is the daughter of late filmaker Bruce Paltrow and actress Blythe Danner. Despite her assumed stature, she insists that she has paid her dues to get to where she is today. "[My father] never gave me anything: I never had any supplementation, he never helped me with my rent, I never had a trust fund," she said. "So the idea that I am spoiled or that I didn't work for what I have, that's just not accurate. But I can see how somebody might have that perception."
But let's give her some credit- she handled the situation well despite being harshly criticized and having a legit sign of being well-hated. Meanwhile, people are still trying to figure out how she likes her french fries- with or without truffle oil?
