Adele’s third album 25 has become the fastest selling album ever with more than 4 million copies sold in two weeks.

25 has even surpassed the 3 million copies sold in 2001 for Distance by Hikaru Utada in Japan.

In Canada, UK, and US, 25 is the fastest selling record. In Canada, it sold for 306,000 copies surpassing the native Celine Dion’s Let’s Talk About Love which sold for 230,000 copies in 1997. In the United Kingdom, 25 sold for 800,000 copies surpassing Oasis in 1997 for Be Here Now which only sold for 696,000. The album by Adele sold one million copies in 10 days, breaking the previous record of 17 days that Oasis made. In the US, Adele’s album has sold 4 million copies beating N’SYNC’s record in 2000 for No Strings Attached which only sold 2.4 million copies. 25 became the fastest selling record ever since Nielsen Music began tracking music sales in 1995 for Canada and in 1991 in the US.

25 has also become the 20th album to sell a million copies in a week according to Billboard. Adele joins Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga for Born this Way, and The Beatles for their compilation album 1 in the record.

The single Hello has also become the first single to sell 1 million copies in one week. It became the first track to be downloaded more than one million times in a week which broke Flo Rida’s record in half for Right Round in 2012.

25 has only been released November 2015, and it has already become the best-selling album of 2015. The other best-selling album of the year is 1989 by Taylor Swift which has sold for 1.8 million copies since its release in October. That’s nothing compared to Adele selling more copies that Swift in one week.
