After being a successful rapper, will Nicki Minaj shift to acting career?

After conquering the world of hip-hop, rapper Nicki Minaj now wants to conquer the world of acting as she aspires to become as great as Meryl Streep.

Minaj got the taste of the big screen in 2014 when she landed a role in The Other Woman alongside Cameron Diaz, Kate Upton and Jamie Lannister.

The 33 year old Super Bass rapper is working on her next movie Barbershop: The Next Cut which will premier in 2016.

Minaj’s acting idol is the iconic award-winning Meryl Streep who set the record for most Best Acting nominations at the Oscars for years. Streep has acted in such iconic films as Sophie’s Choice, The Deer Hunter, and Kramer vs Kramer. She is also known for her performances from The Devil Wears Prada, The Iron Lady, and recently Into the Woods.

Nicki Minaj, a commercially successful rapper has stated in an interview with Billboard that her dream would be to have the type of acting career Streep has, to be able to do things believably. The rapper is also currently working with ABC on a yet-to-be-named television sitcom about Minaj’s childhood in Queens. The series would be narrated by Minaj herself and the pilot was penned by Kate Angelo who wrote the scripts for Sex Tape and Will & Grace.
