Cebu is very lucky to have this non-profit animal rescue group.

Founded last February 2010, IRO aims to change how people view animals and be able to help as much as they can.

Many people do not care about animals and that is a fact. We see a lot of strays scavenging for whatever they see in the trashcan despite the risk of getting run over by a vehicle or being played to death by children who do not care about anything. It may seem that some people do care about the animals but are not thoroughly educated about it. Many people own pets but do not know much about responsible pet-keeping. These are the reasons why we are all happy to have Island Rescue Organization (IRO).

IRO’s Mission:

1. To promote responsible and humane ownership of all animals.

2. To save the lives and provide a safe place for abused, abandoned, and tortured animals.

3. To provide a loving safe haven for abused, abandoned, and totured animals.

4. To promote adoption of companion animals in loving foreverhomes.

IRO has over 150 animals under their roof and is run by a team of volunteers who give their time up to give the rescued animals the care they need until they are adopted. IRO gets money from donations from the public which is a big help and IRO is forever grateful for it. Because of the support and generosity, IRO continues to operate.

Now, IRO has secured themselves a land in Talamban where all of their many rescues will be relocated including the ones in Danao and Pit Bull Rehabilitation Center. The new location in Talamban will be a lot more accessible to adopters and volunteers but it is not that easy.  The new land needs landscaping since some trees, shrubs and plants need to be cleared to make way for their rescues’ housings- something IRO needs help for.

If anyone wants to help, please do contact 09236084063 or 09322826312 or via their Facebook page IslandRescueOrganization.

IRO is an organization which we all can be proud of. The creation of the new shelter will make everyone happy- including the rescued and the soon-to-be-rescued animals.
