On October 20, 2001, some of music's biggest names gathered at New York City's Madison Square Garden for the Concert for New York City, which honored the first responders to the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and raised more than $30 million to benefit the victims of the attacks and their families.  Now, to mark the 10th anniversary of the attacks, VH1 plans to re-air the entire six-hour event, commercial-free, this September 11 start at 4 p.m.  It will also stream in its entirety, ad-free, on VH1.com.
Just some of the artists who performed at the concert included a still-together Destiny's Child, Backstreet BoysPaul McCartneyElton John, Mick Jagger, Jay-Z, Melissa Etheridge, Goo Goo Dolls, Janet Jackson, Bon Jovi, Billy Joel, James TaylorJohn MellencampEric Clapton, Five for Fighting and Marc Anthony.  Stars who were on hand to speak between acts and introduce short films included Gwyneth Paltrow, Jerry Seinfeld, Susan Sarandon, Harrison Ford, Meg Ryan, Denis Leary, John Cusack andBill and Hillary Clinton.


Goo Goo DollsJohnny Rzeznik told ABC News Radio recently that the night of the concert was "really the first night, I think, that people started to get up, and it was, 'OK, we can have a good time again.  We can get on with this, I know it's gonna be difficult, but we can get on with this.'  And that was a great, great feeling to be a part of that."
