When those bells rang out Space Oddity from the 634-year-old church in Utrecht, Netherlands, everyone knew that the death of David Bowie had touched the entire world.

When I heard about the passing of The Thin White Duke as he was known when he adopted the name as his 1976 persona, I felt a cavernous tug on my heartstrings. But when I heard the echo of Bowie’s 1969 classic masterpiece clanging from the tallest Gothic-style Dom Tower, my hairs stood as the resonating tune reverberated throughout my body.

This was the most meaningful tribute I had ever heard in my entire life and I feel that Bowie rightfully deserved this “spine-tingling” respect because aside from being the king of music innovation, he was the most original artist reincarnating and reinventing himself to always be in vogue. His style was perfectly unique, his works of art by far were extraordinarily original, his wardrobe totally ingenious and unprecedentedly imaginative and his flamboyant androgynous alter ego ground-breaking!

On this note, I’d like to mention that Marko and I, Martha T coincidentally did a special last August on Bowie. Little did we know that we preempted the tribute we are doing for him this evening on Bootleg Gold as we bring you the show in its entirety. In addition, we have extended it with more of his tracks and we will also be covering influences he has impelled on other musicians.

Today we bring you memoires of David Bowie in a 3-hour tribute to the multi-faceted icon who will always be in our hearts, who will forever be cherished as the pioneer of glam rock and who will always be loved and worshipped undividedly by the world for the incredible music he has contributed to us.

May you rest in peace Mr. Bowie together with your Major Tom, Starman, Ziggy Stardust and The Man Who Sold The World, rocking in Heaven!

Be with us on Y101 Always First, and listen to the 3 hour special when Marko and I, Martha T bring you the only rock experience on Bootleg Gold…

Get the habit!
